Cabs / Taxis
If you walk to the end of S. Paca St. closest to Camden Yards (2 resedential blocks) and then north 2 residential blocks you are at the Hampton Inn and you are in area where hailing cabs is typically easy. If you walk a block east from there there is a cab stand at the Hyatt.
Charm City Circulator
Free bus system that runs east and west and north and south. Closest stop is a 8 minute walk from the house, between the Hyatt Hotel and the Convention Center.

Baltimore Light Rail
The station is a 10 minute walk from the home, just on other side of Camden Yards. It's primary use would be to get to and from the airport and it is an easy way to get 1-2 miles north in Baltimore city. East-West transportation is best with Charm City Circulator.

Baltimore Water Taxi
Picks up in Inner Harbor. An awesome way to bounce around the harbor area.
Baltimore City Bus System
Closest stop is ~5 minute walk from the house. Charm City Circulator and other methods may be more desirable for most folks.
Baltimore Subway
Baltimore has a subway that few know about. The routes are more for getting folks in an out of town for employment/work purposes, as opposed to getting around downtown. I doubt any of my guests have ever used Baltimore's subway.
Trains
Local and regional trains leave from Camden Yards Train Station, Penn Station (Baltimore's main station) and BWI Train station (train station ~ 2 miles from Airport). Although there is a BWI train station, you are best taking a cab or the Light Rail from the airport. The actual logistics of a train from BWI train station to downtown Baltimore doesn't make sense. Details for Trains to Washington DC in separate FAQ item below.
Details for trains to Washington DC
The MARC train offers two commuter routes to Washington DC for around $13 round trip. There is also Amtrak service, but it is not much faster and about $20 one way.
--- Penn Line ---
Leaves Penn Station (main train) station (4 miles north of home)..and is a 50 minute train trip. The Penn Line has more train options than Camden and it runs until 10 or 11 at night. As of 2014, there is now a weekend service in addition to the Monday thru Friday commuter service.
--- Camden Line ---
Leaves Camden Yards (baseball stadium), and that station is a 10 minute walk around stadium from my home. Camden train trip is ~ 70 minutes because it takes a different set of tracks in and out of town, and the first few miles coming to and leaving Baltimore it goes very slow. The Camden line primarily focuses its trips during commuter hours.....so...if the Camden Line doesn't run as often or when you'd like, you would need to take a cab/to from Penn Station to catch the Penn Line..but if you do that...your total trip time still is almost the same. Camden line only operates Monday thru Friday.
--- Penn Line alternative ---
If you have a car and wanted to speed things up you can drive south 10 miles to the airport and catch the Penn Line there..and the ride in is only 30 minutes....OR a cab ride to airport is about $25...and my guess is a cab ride from hom to Penn Station will be ~$15....(although only 4 miles north....some lights)...and given that scenario...I'd actually likely just cab it to airport train station..and coming home, I'd just get off at airport and catch a cab home...you'd save yourself about 20-30 minutes each trip.
